Directly after the Surf festival on Fehmarn a new format for windsurfers begins on 18 May. The "Never Not Windsurfing Retreat" runs until 21 May and is aimed at anyone who wants to work specifically on their technique. Windsurfing coach and personal trainer Sascha Lange is organising the four days, which combine water training with fitness and equipment knowledge. Sascha limits himself to a small number of participants. This creates space for individual feedback and concrete development steps. The event utilises the time after the festival, when there is less activity on the water. Each participant receives a personalised training plan that can be used beyond the four days.
"The day starts with a mobility or recovery session, followed by breakfast together," says Sascha. The wind conditions then determine the programme. If there is enough wind, the participants go out on the water. The sessions are accompanied and partly filmed. In the evening, a video analysis takes place in which the recordings are analysed together. If there is no wind, windsurfing-specific training is on the programme. The exercises can be adapted to different levels. The programme ends with a recovery and stretching session before the group spends the evening together. This structure remains in place for all four days, but can be flexibly adapted to the actual conditions on site.

Community life plays a central role for Sascha at the retreat. Participants can spend the night together on the festival site in a campervan, motorhome or tent - a "caravan instead of a hotel". A large pagoda from the surf festival is also available. It offers space for workshops, video analyses and training sessions in bad weather. The evenings remain open-plan. Everyone looks after themselves or cooks together. The focus is on the exchange between the participants.
Various brands and players from the windsurfing scene support the retreat with workshops. Stoked Zone will provide an introduction to video analysis with Insta360, and test cameras will also be available. Point-7 offers a sailing workshop and the opportunity to test equipment directly. Duotone will provide insights into modern windsurfing equipment. Timm Köpke from Maui Ultra Fins explains fin setup and selection. Loris Vietoris from Xcel Wetsuits holds a workshop on the subject of neoprene. The Captain Paul Watson Foundation will report on its work in the field of marine conservation. Other manufacturers from the scene have been requested. This will provide participants with practical sessions and a deeper understanding of materials, set-up and decision-making processes on the water.
In addition to on-site coaching, each participant receives a personalised training plan. This is tailored to the requirements of windsurfing and can be used beyond the retreat. "The combination of training, sessions on the water, evenings together and direct dialogue with other windsurfers ensures that the participants not only go home with better skills, but also with new contacts and impressions," says Sascha Lange. The participation fee is 749 euros.
