Vincent Langer's Raceweek in Egypt once again attracted many racers to Soma Bay in 2026 to fine-tune their skills for the season. As Axel Reese reports, many of them were able to improve further.

Bright sunshine and plenty of motivation: the race week organised by Vincent Langer and Peter Müller from the Surfmotion centre in Soma Bay once again promised intensive training at the highest level this year. Vincent Langer welcomed around 20 participants and set the motto right at the beginning: The focus is on having fun on the water and the personal development of each individual.

The concept of the week is as simple as it is effective: a successful mix of practice on the water and in-depth theory sessions on land. It gets down to the nitty gritty - from early planing to the optimum trim of the board-rig unit with loop position through to speed. Subtleties such as efficient pumping are also analysed in detail and taught in an understandable way.

One hour race at the end

A particular highlight is the direct supervision on the water. There was also a session in which Vincent did not accompany the participants on the windsurfing board himself, but analysed them from the motorboat at close range and gave valuable tips straight away. Mistake analyses are carried out in real time - directly from the world champion himself.

To round off the Raceweek, the traditional race was on the programme and for the first time in the format of the "North One Hour". Due to the weakening wind, there was only one lap of the course and in the end Tjorve Studt, new team rider North Sails, came out on top. There were trophies for the podium places.

New insights every year, even for experienced windsurfers

The participants themselves confirmed that the week was not only sporting, but also educational. Frank Schütze (59) from Altmühlsee was delighted with the many new impulses: he had made particularly good progress with his sail trim. Together with Vincent Langer, he analysed his 7.8 Point Seven sail in detail and optimised the batten tensioner, among other things, to achieve more power and a better ride.

Peter Müller, co-initiator of Raceweek, also emphasised the lasting learning effect of the event. Despite his many years of experience, he takes away new insights every year - such as the importance of different batten tensioners for the handling characteristics of a sail. Small adjustments in particular can make a big difference here, especially when planing. In the 66-year-old's case, things are still improving a little from year to year.

Regardless of the wind conditions, the Raceweek remains a complete success for all participants. The combination of intensive practice, sound theory and Vincent Langer's expertise ensures that every participant can improve their personal level.

After an eventful week, the event came to a relaxed end with the award ceremony: The unanimous opinion: Raceweek was not only a lot of fun, but also a lasting source of motivation. The anticipation for the next time is already palpable.
