Jono Dunnett has set off to surf around Japan! In the past he has already surfed around Great Britain and all of Europe (picture)!
Jono Dunnett has been back on the water since yesterday lunchtime! The Brit wants to circumnavigate the whole of Japan on a windsurfing board - around 6,000 kilometres. But the start is proving tough.

"I arrived in Japan a few days ago and was welcomed by an old friend," reports Jono Dunnett in the first update on his new adventure. The experienced touring surfer wants to surf around the Japanese islands, and the challenges at sea are now being joined by the cultural hurdles on land. "I realised that I was underprepared in every respect and got a crash course in how to survive in Japan," laughs Jono in his video.

The start on the Pacific coast near Tokyo was difficult: Jono had to get his touring equipment, a board weighing 35 to 40 kilos and an 8.5 metre sail out onto open water in very little wind through some swell, and then fought his way around a small headland. Only then did the wind pick up a little. The forecast promises about two days of good conditions before he will probably have to take a few days off due to bad weather, Jono reported in his video.
