Dark clouds and sun: The weather only offered a short slot for a few foil heats

The third slalom elimination at the World Cup on Sylt could not be completed as the wind weakened. There was live music from Greta on the event stage, and a HiFly sale and a surf party await in the next few days!

Yes, where are they going? The third foil elimination of the Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt 2025 started at around midday, very far south of the event site and just off Helgoland. It looked as if the slightly southerly easterly wind would be sufficient, and the first heats were completed quickly.

The winners of the four first-round heats were exactly the top four in the event standings so far: Johan Søe, Matteo Iachino, Pierre Mortefon and Fabian Wolf were the first to cross the finish line. Wolf was therefore well on the way to seamlessly continuing his top performance from Saturday. But in the semi-final, he was unlucky: at the start, he didn't really get away from Amado Vrieswijk and had to fight to keep up. After going off in the jibe, his last hope was gone. The other German starters Lars Poggemann, Jesse Richter and unfortunately also Nico Prien had to retire after the first lap. After injuring his toe, he didn't have enough time to train on the foil, he said.

While Jordy Vonk was delighted with his semi-final victory, there was once again no way around Johan Søe in the parallel heat. The Dane dominated his heats as always: a good but cautious start, then an incredible speed to the top and driving the thing home with extremely safe jibes - his lead at the finish was sometimes considerable.

Unfortunately, the wind ran out during the small final - the big final with all the top favourites was then no longer started, and after a short wait the field was sent back the long and tough way to the shore.

Music by Greta on the event stage

A musical highlight awaited on land: title partner Citroën brought along newcomer Greta, whose song "Holiday" was a perfect match for the Citroën camper and who played on the event stage in the late afternoon. You can also celebrate on Thursday: the Saltwater Shop, together with surf and Sausalitos, is hosting the World Cup party, and Björn and Liam Dunkerbeck have also announced their attendance. Tickets are available at saltwater-shop.com

You can also browse through the current HiFly collection tomorrow in the Saltwater shop on Friedrichstraße. Although the retro label is not represented at the World Cup this year, it is organising a big flash sale in the shop on Tuesday only. It starts at 10:00 am and there will be free drinks from 5:00 pm!
