This weekend has been eagerly awaited all week: the third and final discipline, waveriding, starts on the official last competition day of the World Cup Sylt. The race organisers' plan is to hold both the men's and women's events today.
The day started early with a skippers meeting at 7.00 am, in pouring rain and lashing winds. The conditions are typical of Sylt, with a crushing shorebreak and a river-like current. Over the course of the day, the wind is expected to shift from south to west, with a few wobbles in between.
Marcilio Browne, Alessio Stillrich, Victor Fernandez, Liam Dunkerbeck and a few other riders warmed up yesterday. Who will take the title on Sylt today?
