Steven van Broeckhoven made the most of one of the few waves for some pump foiling – one of the few riders to get wet today.
No wind on Monday at the 2026 Sylt Windsurfing World Cup. Racers and freestylers are hoping for suitable conditions over the next two days.

Balz Müller and Steven van Broeckhoven went pump foiling, Liam Dunkerbeck and the Canary Islands crew played football against a few freestylers, whilst the German slalom racers gave interviews on stage. As predicted, there was no usable wind on Monday, so there were no further races. Despite a grey haze over the North Sea, the event site was well attended, even without any windsurfing action on the water.

Even at the skippers’ meeting this morning, everyone’s thoughts were already turning towards Tuesday and Wednesday. The forecasts are promising a steady easterly wind for the next two days. Foil races should definitely be on the cards, and with a bit of luck, the last three remaining heats of the freestyle single elimination could also be held. The rest of the week doesn’t look too windy so far, so the wave riders might miss out this year. Fingers crossed and let’s get stuck in with the livestream tomorrow!
