The fourth day of the 2026 Cold Hawaii Youth Windsurf Wave & Slalom World Cup was once again dominated by the foil disciplines. The race organisers once again moved the competition to the calm waters of the Limfjord near Thisted Sejlklub, where consistent wind conditions provided ideal conditions for the foilers. The fleets completed five full elimination rounds, thereby reaching the maximum number of 15 races, meaning the winners have now been decided.
Tycho Smits came out on top in the U21 Boys’ Foil category. The young Bonaire fencer put in a consistent performance throughout the series and secured the title ahead of Gustav Permin. Despite having home advantage, Permin had to settle for second place. Third place on the podium went to Benedikt Emser, who won two races yesterday and finished just a few points behind Permin.
Mika Henning triumphs in the U17s
Mika Henning won the U17 Boys’ Foil event. The young German racer put in a strong performance, relegating Max-Emil Krogh Schmidt from Denmark to second place. The bronze medallion went to Gaspar Cascon Schwarzenlander from Austria. Mika Henning won nine of the 15 heats.
In the U21 Girls’ Foil, Kit De Jong secured victory. The Dutch fencer saw her sister, Lone De Jong, finish in second place. Jessica Roman from Hungary took bronze. The De Jong sisters impressively demonstrated their technical superiority in the women’s category, taking the top two places on the podium between them.
Historic wave conditions at the weekend
Following the foil races, the fleet went into standby mode for the fin slalom discipline. The weather forecast had predicted freshening winds for the afternoon, but conditions eased off as the day progressed. For Friday, the fifth day of competition, meteorologists are once again forecasting strong winds. The event will then return to Thisted Sejlklub to take advantage of the optimal slalom conditions on the Limfjord.
It looks set to be an exceptional weekend for the Wave Division. The weather models are forecasting plenty of wind and massive swell for Saturday and Sunday. The predicted conditions could be amongst the best seen at an event of this category in years.
