As conditions in Klitmøller weren’t up to scratch, the World Cup contingent headed back to Thisted Sejlklub on the Limfjord. Conditions there were ideal for foil and fin slalom races. The steady north-westerly wind allowed elimination rounds to take place in all age groups.
In the boys’ U21 category, a thrilling duel unfolded between Tycho Smits and Benedikt Emser. Both athletes produced outstanding tacks, setting the standard for the entire fleet. The local Danish heroes, Elias Wallden Jespersen and Gustav Permin, refused to be left behind by the top international favourites. The two Danes kept the pressure on the leading sailors consistently high, with the gaps between the top four remaining minimal throughout all the elimination rounds.
Max-Emil Krogh Schmidt picked up seamlessly from his strong performance on the opening day in the boys’ U17 category. The young Dane was locked in a fierce battle with Mika Henning. The two athletes took turns winning the individual heats, with the outcomes often only being decided in the final metres before the finish line. Schmidt showed his strength particularly during the jibes. Henning countered with aggressive starts and made the most of the gusts of wind.
The De Jong sisters make a big impression
In the girls’ U21 rankings, sisters Kit and Lone de Jong continued their dominance. Both displayed an impressive combination of speed and foil control. The sisters executed precise manoeuvres and barely lost any speed, even in tricky wind conditions. The competition had little to offer in response to the pace set by the two Dutch sisters. Kit and Lone de Jong further extended their lead in the overall standings.

The weather forecast for the third day of competition predicts strong winds over the Thy region. The conditions suggest a possible change of discipline, with the wave event on standby. Both Klitmøller and Hanstholm are being considered as possible venues, depending on wave quality and wind direction.
