Of the 26 ROBINSON clubs worldwide, the one in Egypt's Soma Bay is one of the best and most popular for windsurfers - and quite rightly so!

Topics in this article

Of course, you can simply sit back in your armchair and look out over one of the most beautiful bays on the Red Sea. You also have a wonderful view of the golden yellow beach and the azure blue sea from the panoramic sauna. Admittedly, this alone would make your trip worthwhile. But what about diving, sailing, kitesurfing, golf - and of course windsurfing! The club has one of the largest diving centres in the region and the house reef is of course absolutely fascinating for snorkellers and even swimmers. And you won't forget the evening sundowner trip on one of the club's dive boats for the rest of your life. This club is a real dive destination!

Water sports offer

For windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts, however, the well-equipped water sports centre is even more important. It is open all day and offers daily equipment and spot briefings as well as modern, high-quality technical equipment for use. All water sports staff are trained VDWS instructors and hold the relevant VDWS licences.

Surf Week with Bernd Flessner

An absolute highlight at the ROBINSON SOMA BAY is the annual Surf Week with windsurfing legend Bernd Flessner. The professional training programme with insider tips from the pro runs from 4 to 11 September 2025. The area in front of the Robinson Club is suitable for beginners, but above all for freeriders who want to enjoy relaxed cruising over flat water with small wind waves. Flessi's surf camp is recommended for advanced freeriders who want to improve their riding technique in all areas. Safe gliding in the straps and the water start are the basic requirements for participation. Bernd also gives lots of tips on material settings and sail trim. The record-breaking champion from Norderney speaks from decades of pro experience.

The Duotone windsurfing equipment is of course available to you free of charge at the water sports centre, but it is advisable to bring your own windsurfing equipment. This guarantees you the best learning effect. The surf week with several hours of daily training and a great supporting programme costs 380 euros (plus club stay).
