Crowdfunding: Surf-Club Augsburg launches fundraising campaign for clubhouse renovation

Surf-Club Augsburg e.V. is facing a major challenge: the clubhouse at Lake Mandicho is in urgent need of extensive refurbishment. In order to finance the necessary work, the club has launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFundMe platform. The aim is to raise 4,000 euros for the renovation of the recreation room, which has been badly affected by water damage.

Massive damage due to water ingress

The situation in the clubhouse has deteriorated dramatically, the club writes in its appeal. Water ingress has caused the wooden floor of the recreation room to rot badly and has already broken through in some places. This not only leads to safety risks for the club members, but also allows mice to enter the rooms. The rodents damage and soil the fixtures and fittings, which makes it even more difficult to use the room.

In addition to the dilapidated floor, there are other urgent construction sites in the clubhouse. The entrance door is badly warped and no longer closes properly, which also allows animals to enter. Some of the cupboards in the lounge are badly damaged and are being patched up in a makeshift manner so that they can still be used for a while. All these defects add up to a condition that is no longer acceptable for a recreation room.

Financial challenges for the organisation

Due to its size, the Surf-Club Augsburg e.V. is faced with limited financial resources. The club's income is manageable, which makes it impossible to finance major renovation work from its own resources. The SCA is therefore now turning to the public for support in order to restore the clubhouse to a usable condition, and the fundraising campaign launched on GoFundMe has already had its first successes. At the time of reporting, 1,000 euros had already been collected from eleven donors.

The clubhouse at Lake Mandicho plays a central role in the club life of the Augsburg Surf Club. It serves as a meeting point for members, as a base for training sessions and as a venue for events. The renovation is therefore of great importance for the future of the club and the maintenance of its water sports activities.
