The Danish Open Windsurf Wave and Freestyle Championships 2025 enjoyed fantastic conditions in Cold Hawaii over the Whitsun weekend - as did countless windsurfing holidaymakers. With wind speeds of up to 30 knots and waves up to 3 metres high, Cold Hawaii was at its best.
In the wave contest, local hero Tobias Bjørnå from Klitmøller came out on top of the field. He secured victory with an impressive performance, closely followed by Kenneth Danielsen, who is also Bjørnå's coach at NASA Surf Club. Third place went to Mads Bjørnå, Tobias' father, with one of the best waves of the day. Line Bang Wittrup won the women's category ahead of Caroline Weber and Nadia Jablonski.

Arne Jörn second in freestyle
However, before the wind picked up and the waves got bigger, the freestyle competition was first on the programme. Mathias Vingaard put in the best performance here and came out on top of the field, closely followed by Arne Jörn from Hamburg, last year's winner in the junior class. Nicolai Frandsen secured third place with a strong performance.
The competition in the junior freestyle class was particularly exciting. Arne Jörn was able to confirm his success from the previous year and took victory once again. He was followed by Bjørn Olesen, Emil Skov Nielsen and Anton Aalborg Stubberup. The spectators were also treated to plenty in the B freestyle class. Jesper Skov Nielsen came out on top here with stylish manoeuvres, followed by Emil Skov Nielsen, Jörg Bubelach and Allan Hagner. In junior waveriding, Tobias Bjørnå once again came out on top, followed by Bjørn Olesen and Emil Skov Nielsen. Trine Gobisch won the junior girls' event, followed by Emma Miron and Helena Lale.
One of the largest fields was the Masters - all aged 45 and over. "And if you think they all have knee and back problems, at least you didn't see it!" said the organisers in their report. Lars Gobisch, who could almost pass for a local, won ahead of Mads Bjørnå and Michael Viscovich.
In the autumn, the Winter Edition of the Danish Open will take place from 16 to 19 October, where the Danish championship titles will also be decided.
