On the third day of the Defi Wind in Gruissan, there were two more races in strong Tramontana conditions. Nico Prien took the overall lead in the Fin category, while Jenna Gibson won all the women's races. Amado Vrieswijk and Justine Lemeteyer dominated the Unlimited category.

The third day of competition at the Defi Wind in Gruissan once again brought magnificent Tramontana conditions for the more than one thousand windsurfers who started. Two more heats were held on the 40-kilometre course, which also brought the first stringer into play. In the men's fin category, Nico Prien took the lead in the overall standings, winning another heat. In the afternoon, Pierre Mortefon took the first victory at his home spot. In the women's category, Jenna Gibson put in a faultless performance and once again won all the races.

There was a memorable scene in the second race of the day in the afternoon: amateur Kevin Grosjean overtook season opener winner Jordy Vonk in spectacular fashion and secured second place between Mortefon and Vonk as the best amateur. "I've never seen anyone overtake like Grosjean overtook me," commented Vonk on the manoeuvre.

Gibson with an unblemished record

In the women's final category, Jenna Gibson left no doubt about her dominance. The Brit won all five races she completed and significantly extended her lead in the overall standings. After the first stringer, she leads the standings with a perfect score. Mae Davico is in second place, followed by Femke Van Der Veen from the Netherlands. The three athletes have already built up a significant cushion over their rivals on the third day.

Foil against Finn in the Unlimited

The Unlimited category offered a fascinating duel of different material concepts. Amado Vrieswijk completed all the races on the foil and gave his opponents no chance. The man from Bonaire flew around the course at high speed and secured the overall lead. Alexis Mathis and the Greek John Soukos completed the podium, both also travelling on foils. In the women's event, Justine Lemeteyer opted for the Finn yesterday and dominated her rivals. The world champion relegated Blanca Alabau to second place. Lola Brotschi on RRD rounded off the podium after five races and one stripper.

The legendary Tridem was also at the start again! In the last race of the day, the crew even invited a fourth passenger. The Motley crew reached the first buoy at the same time as Amado Vrieswijk, who was already completing his second lap at the time. In the Windsurfer LT class, a French duel developed between Luca Guiraud and Christophe Pringuenon in favour of Guiraud, who took the lead after five races. Arjan Leerdam from the Netherlands is in third place.
