Some of the best slalom riders on the PWA Tour look back on the 2024 season - with all the highs, lows and challenges of professional life. As always, a video by Nico Prien that's well worth watching!

The fact that the World Cup pros get their trips booked by an agency and only have to specify when they would like to be where in the world is of course just a dream of Nico Prien. In his new documentary "The Toughest World Cup Season Ever?", Nico gives an insight into the lives of the windsurfing pros. Blanca Alabau, Enrico Marotti, Bruno Martini and Nico talk about all the work it takes to get out on the water at the PWA events.

Travelling is an essential factor, and managing the vast amounts of luggage is particularly tough. Bruno Martini tells us about the challenge of having to re-engage the ground staff at every check-in, Blanca Alabau lugs huge bags weighing several kilos through the heat, and Nico and Michele Becker have to worry about all the bags actually arriving in Japan.

Formula 1 and kickboxing

Nico compares the professional tour to Formula 1, which inspires him to become even more professional. "You can see where the path can lead when every detail is developed further and there is an almost unlimited budget." While in Formula 1, however, the team has its own expert for every aspect, windsurfing professionals have to make every decision themselves. Bruno Martini practises kickboxing and says that the decisions to defend or attack are comparable to racing on the water.

"The Toughest Worldcup Season Ever?" is - as always from Nico Prien - extremely well made, very entertaining and shows the PWA pros from a different side. Even though windsurfing is on a different level to Formula 1 - films like this have absolute blockbuster potential!
