St Peter-Ording will host the IFCA Foiling European Championships from 15 to 19 July 2026. The championships form part of the California Windsurf Cup and will award the official IFCA European titles in foil slalom for men and women. For the first time, the results will also count towards the PWA rankings. The event marks the first competition under the new partnership between the IFCA and the PWA. With total prize money of 40,000 euros, of which at least 25,000 euros is for the Foil Slalom Championship, the event is one of the most significant racing competitions of the 2026 season.
The championship remains an official IFCA European Championship and is not a PWA World Cup or an official PWA World Tour event. However, athletes can earn up to 9,000 ranking points towards the PWA Foil Slalom ranking. St Peter-Ording thus offers the first major opportunity of the year to earn ranking points in foil slalom. The Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt remains the first event at which riders can compete for full World Cup points in this discipline.
The new partnership between the IFCA and the PWA creates an additional opportunity for riders to earn valuable ranking points whilst competing for a major international title. IFCA and PWA representatives are working together on the sporting organisation and the integration of the ranking system. This collaboration reflects both organisations’ shared commitment to strengthening international competition opportunities within the sport.
This event takes place immediately after the World Cup on Fuerteventura, where Slalom X is on the programme from 22 July. With a bit of careful travel planning, the top riders could therefore fit in both events.
As well as the foil slalom, athletes have the opportunity to compete in the fin slalom. Prize money of up to 15,000 euros is available for this discipline. Athletes can choose to compete in one of the two disciplines or enter both categories. Registration is now open. Participants can register via the the event’s official registration portal Register.
A large event village will be set up right on the vast Ordinger beach. Stands run by sponsors and partners within the village, as well as various activities for spectators, will complement the sporting events. A large food corner will feature a range of stalls offering street food and event catering. In the evenings, this area is transformed into a party zone.
