The One Hour involves racing around the buoys for an hour, with the number of laps completed determining the ranking. The events were extremely popular in the nineties, with an event for amateur racers and professionals taking place somewhere almost every weekend. The Racer of the Sea is bringing the format back for 2026. The season starts on 18/19 April 2026 at Lake Dümmer, with an alternative date on 25/26 April. This will be immediately followed by the second edition at Surf Club Kiel e.V. from 1 to 3 May. The concept aims to make it easier to get into competitive sport and at the same time offer experienced riders an additional opportunity to collect ranking points.
The format is open to all windsurfing classes. In addition to slalom riders, athletes from the Techno293, Windsurfer LT, Raceboard and iQFOiL categories can also take part in the races. The organisers Leon Delle and Oliver-Tom Schliemann have designed the series so that participants can collect ranking points for the classes of the German Windsurfing Association. In addition to the races, a barbecue evening is also planned and the whole weekend can be spent eating together. All participants will also have access to pictures of the event.
Those who register quickly can still benefit from the early entry fee and enable the organisers to plan better. A co-operation with boot Düsseldorf enables all participants under the age of 19 to take part in the events free of charge. This arrangement is intended to appeal specifically to young windsurfers and enable them to gain their first competitive experience without financial hurdles.
