The first day of the Freestyle Pro Tour in Porto Pollo offered some action despite light winds. Pier Bongianni came out on top against strong competition in a flowstyle super session for the youth and junior classes. A subsequent tow-in spectacle rounded off the kick-off.

The start of the Freestyle Pro Tour (FPT) in Porto Pollo was initially calm. In light winds, the participants used the morning for registration and the first skippers' meeting. Head judge Emilio Galindo provided detailed information about the competition rules for both newcomers and experienced riders.

Leander Halm in 2nd place in Flowstyle

Conditions improved slightly in the early afternoon, allowing a flowstyle super session to be held in the youth and junior classes. The format consisted of a 10-minute preliminary round with all participants, followed by a 10-minute final for the top four riders. Pier Bongianni, Bijou Shahmirian, Leander Halm and Fernando Sottile qualified for the final. They impressed in the first round with impressive light wind manoeuvres such as rail rides and moves with the sail released.

Bijou Shahmirian then secured third place in the final with a strong performance in the final moments. Leander Halm came very close to victory, but ultimately had to admit defeat. Pier Bongianni took the win with an outstanding performance. He showed a never-ending flow of manoeuvres throughout the entire session.

Tow-in at the end

The flowstyle session was followed by a tow-in session. The perfectly dry double air culos from Yentel Caers and Rossel Bertoldo were particularly impressive. Cosmo Pezzetti set another highlight with a spectacular no-handed burner. Over the next few days, everyone is hoping for enough wind for the official contest.
