Yentel Caers literally took the tow-in discipline to new heights. The Belgian won the contest in Geneva with an incredible performance. Lennart Neubauer won this year's European title thanks to his victory in Vieste, while Maaike Huvermann dominated the women's competition across the board.

Pulled by a powerful cable winch, the freestylers put on a spectacular show on windless Lake Geneva yesterday afternoon. However, the Freestyle Pro Tour is no longer just about the show character of the tow-in, but has also developed into a fully-fledged competitive discipline: A total of four runs per rider are scored by the judges - two on flat water and two over the wave produced by the wakeboard boat - the best move in each case counts and together they form the overall score.
In the gallery above you will find the most spectacular pictures of the day, in the highlight video of the Freestyle Pro Tour you can also see the best moves and the most breathtaking descents of the final in slow motion and from many different perspectives - it's worth clicking in.

Familiar faces on the fiercely contested podium

The podium places were fiercely contested. Just like last year in Geneva, the same three names were at the top of the men's podium: Yentel Caers, Lennart Neubauer and Sam Esteve.

Sam Esteve started off with a triple funnel and then went on to perform his one-handed signature move "Samair" over the wakeboat wave, securing third place.
Lennart Neubauer began his final with a world-class air funnel into burner, in which he took the second rotation (the burner) to an unusual height. He then added an almost glided pasko to his repertoire with the help of the wave. With 17 out of a possible 20 points, he seemed to have secured victory in the competition. But he had not reckoned with what Yentel Caers was about to do.

Yentel Caers wins with triple air rotation

Yentel Caers' tow-in skills are undisputed. The winner of the 2021 edition of this event proved his skills once again. There is no one who hits the wave as aggressively as Yentel, with every take-off leaving the crowd in awe. The highlight of his finale was the full triple air rotation, at a height never seen before. He spun even further than Sam Esteve's signature "Samair", completing all three spins in the air and taking his time to cushion the landing and look at the crowd to celebrate his move. He also attempted a double air culo, but slipped out of the loop on the jump, making it the most spectacular exit.

Caers collected a total of 17.5 points, putting him just ahead of Neubauer and giving him the official event win. Nevertheless, Neubauer had the better overall score of the season thanks to his victory in Vieste, which makes him the 2024 European Tow-In Champion.

Head to head: Maaike Huvermann against Lisa Kloster

In the women's event, Lisa Kloster and Maaike Huvermann went head-to-head at the top. Lisa Kloster from Germany has improved a lot recently, regardless of her chosen freestyle discipline, which meant she could be a real threat to Huvermann's collection of event wins in the future. Lisa impressed in the final with an air funnel and a culo attempt. She came within one point of her rival, but just failed to overtake her.

Maaike Huvermann was not particularly happy with her performance overall, but still managed to come out on top. She impressed the crowd with a twisted burner over the wave and felt the pressure from Lisa after a failed flat water run. Nevertheless, the European freestyle queen came out on top once again and added the European Tow-In trophy to her collection.
