Lots of fun on the water, whatever the conditions: The idea of the Wave Rally is as simple as it is ingenious. At the event on Coronation Beach in Geraldton, races are held on a figure-eight course, across the surf zone and on wave equipment. Only multi-fin boards and sails with a maximum of five battens are permitted; freewave boards are also allowed for 2026. If the wind doesn't play ball, there will be races on windSUPs instead.
These also had to be used for the premiere in January 2025, as there was only enough wind for the hoped-for action on one day. Nevertheless, the event was a complete success and will consequently go into its second round from 9 to 11 January 2026. Parties, concerts and a colourful camp are also planned again.
There is an increase in spending on the event venue so there be more marques and flags etc. Also I think the event may sell out at 100 entrants.
The event is held in one of the best windsurfing locations in the world which helps and the whole idea of the event is to be fun. Using wave gear for racing in the waves is a blast.
The whole idea of the event is to be fun!"
Too early for conformation but I heard maybe Phillip Koster and Ben Severne might go. Patrik and Karin Jaggi will likely race plus a bunch of hot local sailors.
