PWA reporter Sarah Jackson is spending the winter on Maui, where she experienced another day with the rare Kona winds from the left in mid-January. "The swell wasn't quite as big as in December, but it was extremely windy - it felt like Pozo, only with real waves!" Sarah describes the day in Lanes, a little west of Hookipa. "I went out myself, but didn't last long as I couldn't even sheet in my 3.7!" After two waves, Sarah called it a day and photographed the action of Brawzinho and co. from the rocks - you can see the highlights in the gallery above!
Maui local Morgan Noireaux stood out in particular: "Morgan was really on another level today - Braw was great as always and had some pretty heavy finishes, but Morgan was like something else! He looked like he was on the same level as he was in Ho'okipa, just on the other side - he was so much fun to watch!" enthused Sarah. Noireaux fired off a firework display of front and back loops off the lip, aerials, goiters, 360s and much more. "It was like he was just out there playing while the rest were just trying to deal with the over-hack!"
