After the wave and fin slalom, the foilers finally took to the water on Friday at the Windsurf Cup on Sylt. Fabian Wolf, who normally competes in the Olympic iQFOiL class, impressively demonstrated his superiority. With three first places in three races, the man from Kiel gave the competition no chance and secured the overall victory unchallenged. He was followed by Vincent Langer and talented youngster Meno Büchler, who fought an exciting duel for the other podium places.
Fabian Wolf made a clear statement in the very first race. With a flawless run, he confidently took first place, leaving even multiple German, European and world champion Vincent Langer behind him, who put his experience to good use in second place. Meno Büchler, one of the strongest young racers in the U21 category, showed an impressive race to catch up after a weak start and secured third place. Fabian Wolf also remained untouchable in the second race. Once again, he clearly won ahead of Vincent Langer and Meno Büchler, who fought a close duel for second place. Alexander Neubert from Neumünster and Pawel Dittrich from Poland completed the top five in the second foil elimination.
In the third and final race, all participants started together in the full fleet format. Wolf once again confirmed his superiority and also won this race with aplomb. Meno Büchler showed excellent form and this time even managed to beat his former coach Vincent Langer into third place. Keno Recke and Alexander Neubert followed in fourth and fifth place. After three completed races, each racer was able to cancel their worst result, although this hardly mattered for Wolf - he topped the foiling results list with an ideal score of 0.0.
After a total of six days, the GWA Championships as part of the California Surf Cup Sylt came to an end on Sunday - there were no more races on either Saturday or Sunday despite plenty of wind. Despite several storm and safety-related interruptions, results were achieved in all the advertised disciplines - foiling, wave and fin slalom. Vincent Langer succeeded in defending his title as GWA Champion 2025, beating off the competition with championship titles in the individual disciplines of wave and fin slalom as well as the runner-up title in foiling.
Although Fabian Wolf dominated the foiling races, he had to settle for the runner-up title in the overall standings in 2025. Together with his third place in the Fin Slalom and 9th place in the Wave, it was not quite enough for overall victory. Alexander Neubert was rewarded for his consistency. He showed extremely strong performances in both the Fin Slalom and Foiling, but narrowly missed out on the podium with 4th place in each. He also made it into the top 5 in the waveriding discipline, securing third place on the podium of the GWA Championship 2025 with this convincing overall performance.
The battle for the other top 5 places was extremely close. Keno Recke finished just one point ahead of Oliver Schott. Another point behind him was the talented youngster Mika Henning, who impressed as the best junior.
