LVM Versicherung is expanding its involvement in the California Windsurf Cup with the Youngster Trophy. This award is aimed specifically at up-and-coming surfers in the Youth U21 category and will be presented at every tour stop from the 2025 season onwards. Additional prize money is intended to encourage and motivate young talent.

LVM Versicherung, long-standing main sponsor of the California Windsurf Cup, is stepping up its commitment to up-and-coming windsurfers from the upcoming 2025 season. With the newly introduced LVM Youngster Trophy, the best Youth U21 participants will be honoured and financially supported at each tour stop of the top German series. The award includes both event-related prize money and an overall ranking at the end of the season.

Honouring the top young surfers

At each tour stop of the California Windsurf Cup, the three best-placed Youth U21 participants in the current overall annual rankings receive the "Green Lycra" of the LVM Youngster Trophy. These are presented at the first skippers' meeting and make the young talents instantly recognisable during the event - similarities to the yellow jersey in the Tour de France are probably intentional.

In addition to the visibility provided by the jerseys, the top 3 youngsters also receive prize money at each tour stop. A total of 500 euros is distributed per event as follows: 250 euros for first place, 150 euros for second place and 100 euros for third place. The cheques will be handed over at the official award ceremony of the respective regatta. At the end of the season, the LVM Youngster Trophy will once again be awarded to the three best-placed Youth U21 surfers in the overall annual ranking list. This involves total prize money of 2,000 euros, which honours consistently good performances throughout the season. The winner receives 1,000 euros, the runner-up 600 euros and the third-placed 400 euros.

Premiere at the Summer Opening on Sylt

The first LVM Youngster Trophy will be awarded as part of the California Summer Opening Sylt from 5 to 9 June in Westerland. Young surfers who would like to take part in this inaugural event and the new trophy can already register for the regatta on the official website of the California Windsurf Cup.

However, this commitment also directly benefits the participants. Now the LVM Youngster Trophy will directly support young riders." The additional prize money and increased visibility are intended to motivate young talents to dedicate themselves intensively to competitive sport and continuously improve their performance.
