The organisers of the GWA Championships on Sylt have officially issued a wave alert for next Wednesday, 30 July. The weather forecast promises cross onshore winds of between 25 and 30 knots as well as high waves on Brandenburg Beach - and therefore good conditions for wave riding on Sylt. This means there could be an official wave title of the GWA Championship as part of the California Surf Cup.
Due to the promising forecast, the organisers are planning a particularly early start to the competition. Registration for all participants in the wave discipline is scheduled for 7.30 am to 8.00 am. The skippers meeting will follow at 8.30 am, and the first possible start is already scheduled for 9.00 am. In order to speed up the registration process on site, all waver are asked to use the online registration option.
A reduced entry fee of 50 euros applies for athletes who only want to take part in the wave discipline. This can simply be paid on site at the registration desk. Nevertheless, the organisers recommend registering online in advance so that the wave competitions can be optimally prepared. If the wave discipline cannot be organised for any reason, pre-registered participants will not incur any costs. For the journey to Sylt, codes for a discounted crossing with the blue RDC car train can be requested from Choppy Water by e-mail. The organisation would also like to point out that all GWA full members who are in the Youth U21, trainee or student category and are travelling to the island events will receive 100 euros towards their travel costs.
