The GWA organises the German Windsurf Cup together with the Choppy Water agency and, as an association, has the right to select the German champions. In addition to the DWC events on Sylt, in St. Peter-Ording, Pelzerhaken and Heiligenhafen, there will also be a series of ProAm regattas next year, which will be organised in cooperation with local clubs. The GWA had already announced this in November. Further events have now been added.
"These ProAm Cups are primarily aimed at regatta beginners and 'weekend racers', but they will also be interesting for many dedicated cuppers to gain competition practice, test equipment or simply have fun," says the GWA about the "second league" of the DWC. There will be a fin and foil classification. The organisers say that consideration will be given to the amateurs: "The formats and courses will be kept as simple as possible. Fun takes centre stage at the ProAm Windsurf Cups. If you've always wanted to compete with your mate and lots of other like-minded people or just want to experience a great weekend with other windsurfing enthusiasts, then the ProAm Windsurf Cups are just the thing for you." The races only take place at the weekend and are planned at beginner-friendly and easily accessible spots:
One new addition is the date on Lake Garda at the start of the season. This regatta makes the series accessible to starters from southern Germany. Another new addition is the final regatta in Grönwohld, where Vincent Langer's LVM Kids Camp is planned at the same time. "This should attract even more windsurfing-enthusiastic kids to the camp organised by the multiple German, European and world champion. A total of well over 500 kids have already taken part and many of them have then found their way to the Windsurf Cup," says the GWA.
Points can also be collected for the ranking list at all events, but the factor is lower than at the regattas in the Multivan Windsurf Cup. "The aim of the ProAm Windsurf Cups is to make it easy to (re-)enter the Windsurf Cup and thus activate more beginners," hopes the GWA.
The 2024 regatta calendar also includes two events at Dümmer See and Steinhuder Meer, as well as the IFCA European Championship in Turkey for Finn and Foil and the IFCA World Championship for Finn on Ringkøbing Fjord in Denmark.
