Five planned training events this season

Would you like to join the Multivan Windsurf Cup, but don't really have the confidence yet? Would you like to take your windfoiling or slalom skills to the next level? - Then the GWA Foil Slalom training with Dennis Müller is just right for you! Your next chance is on 3 June, when a warm-up training day is planned in Kellenhusen. Exactly one day before the start of the DWC regatta season in Kellenhusen on the Whitsun weekend.

Kick-off event at Lake Dümmer

The first GWA Foil Slalom training of five planned events took place last weekend. The aim is to get as many beginners and intermediates as possible interested in regatta sport. The German Windsurfing Association organised the training weekend together with the Windsurfing Club Dümmer See through.
Windsurf Cup Pro Dennis Müller from the island of Norderney was brought in as coach. For a whole weekend, Windsurf Cup Pro Dennis Müller (GER-89) taught you everything you need to finally get ahead:

What is the best way to get on the foil?

How can I control foiling?

What is the fastest way to get round the various courses?

Which is faster and when? - Fin or foil?

What do I have to consider when jibing with a fin and foil?

How can I use the Multivan Windsurf Cup take part?

In addition to all this knowledge, the aim was to spend as much time as possible on the water. However, Saturday started without a breath of wind, so foiling was impossible. Some of the locals who had come along to watch were already expressing their sympathy on Saturday morning that there was no breeze at all, as the Dümmer was as smooth as glass at this point.

But the coaches had taken a close look at the forecast and brought forward the barbecue originally planned for the evening to midday in order to have the opportunity to surf into the sunset if the evening should still bring a northerly wind.

The programme started with a jogging session as a warm-up, followed by a fitness session on land. The participants then turned their attention to setting up their surf equipment, where they were given tips on performance-orientated equipment tuning by Dennis Müller. After lunch, there were some more theoretical instructions on land and the wind finally freshened up so that the participants could start their first foil attempts.
A bad weather front brought the wind and with it great conditions. Lake Dümmer was so smooth that the wind could not influence the water surface at all, it took a while for the wind wave to build up so that the participants could surf in mirror-smooth water at first.
The training lasted three hours in laboratory conditions with a constant northerly wind. The participants received important tips on how to improve their skills both from the coach who was fouling alongside and from the motorboat. The participants came from all over NRW and Lower Saxony and were aged between 14 and 60.
Among them was Mara from Steinhuder Meer, who was foiling for only the second time during the training camp. With the help of tips from Dennis Müller, she made great progress over the weekend and was very happy with her results. "It was incredible," she summarised the training session in the evening, beaming.

I am incredibly happy about the happy participants and that we were rewarded with the wind for the entire organisation of such a weekend. I would like to thank the German Windsurfing Association (GWA) and especially full-time pro Dennis Müller, who came to us at Lake Dümmer with a third place in the German rankings and spread a wave of euphoria for the sport of surfing on site and via social media.
A great kick-off event that will definitely be repeated next year as initial preparation for the most important events of the season.

The Windsurfingclub Dümmersee would like to thank professional surfer Dennis Müller from Norderney, who travelled to the Dümmer as a licensed trainer to conduct the training camp.

Dennis Müller himself also described Lake Dümmer as an ideal training area for foiling, thanks in part to the successful cooperation with the Lower Saxony Sailing Association and the local sailing club, which provided the necessary motorboat.

A perfect kick-off event with ideal foil conditions. I was particularly pleased that we were able to get such a wide range of ages interested in foiling. And that we were able to show with two young female surfers that foiling is a cool sport for girls. Many thanks to the GWA for the realisation and to the local windsurfing club Dümmersee for their commitment. Dennis Müller
