Day two of the 2026 IFCA Fin Slalom European Championships in Hvide Sande saw a change at the top of the men’s standings. Nico Prien climbed from fifth place the previous day to take the lead after four elimination rounds had been completed. He thus pushed Brendan Lorho down to second place.
The day’s competition got off to a delayed start as the onshore wind took some time to stabilise. By midday, the races were finally able to begin; the men completed two further elimination rounds, whilst the women added five races to their overall standings, bringing their total to nine races. Conditions proved challenging, with plenty of gusts, before heavy rain brought the racing to a halt in the afternoon.
Prien and Gibson enjoy a flawless day
Nico Prien put in a strong performance on day two and took the lead in the men’s standings. Nico won both races of the day and, thanks to a discard, now sits at the very top with the maximum number of points. Brendan Lorho slips to second place, whilst Sacha Fortune climbs to third. Taty Frans remains in fourth place, followed by Anton Richter in fifth. After four elimination rounds, the top five are closely grouped, which promises exciting battles for position over the coming days of racing.
Jenna Gibson comfortably maintained her lead in the women’s event, winning all five races of the day. With nine races now completed, she is clearly at the top of the overall standings. Justine Lemeteyer follows in second place. Femke van den Veen has moved up to third place and is now in contention for a podium finish. Mae Davico is in fourth place, whilst Charlotte Philip rounds off the current top five.
For the third day of competition, the organisers are expecting improved conditions with stronger winds. The forecast suggests there will be more races and exciting battles for position.
