Almost 40 starters came to the IFCA Foil World Championship in St. Peter-Ording, with Amado Vrieswijk the top favourite from the World Cup. Michele Becker and Fabian Wolf were the best Germans.

The California Windsurf Cup stop in St. Peter-Ording was ennobled this year by the IFCA as the Foil World Championship, with almost 40 starters from seven nations coming to the North Sea. Six complete slalom eliminations were organised over three days of competition, with Amado Vrieswijk winning four times to take the World Championship title. The World Cup pro from Bonaire was able to record a third and a second place as a streak, so that in the end he won the title with the ideal score of 0.0 points.

Behind him, Frenchman Alexis Mathis finished as runner-up, with Michele Becker in third place. After a somewhat weaker start to the regatta, the Frenchman continued to improve over the course of the competition days. On the last day, he finished second behind Vrieswijk in all races. Becker was strong throughout, with the exception of a slip in race two, which he was able to cancel. In the end, Becker and Mathis were neck and neck with 7.0 points. Mathis was only able to prevail in the tie-breaker, with Becker securing third place on the podium on equal points.

Fabian Wolf was in second place at one point, but dropped out of the immediate title fight during the course of the event and narrowly missed out on the podium in the end. Danish youngster Noah Vinther completed the top five with 18.0 points and is also the new IFCA Slalom Foil Youth Champion 2024. In the Youth U21 division, Frenchman Sacha Fortune (eighth place overall) and Meno Büchler (tenth place overall) finished behind him. Paul Regber won the U17 classification ahead of Philip Köhlert and Mika Henning, making him the IFCA Slalom Foil Junior Champion 2024. Thomas Sehested from Denmark won the Master Over 40 classification ahead of Gunnar Asmussen, while Pawel Dittrich from Poland won the Grand Master Over 50 division against the two Germans Bernd Timme and Michael Brozio.

The organisers drew a positive balance of the World Championships and the California Windsurf Cup in St. Peter-Ording - despite a lot of rain, which affected the event village and even caused a party to be cancelled. "What a mega world championship! Six races within three days, spectacular action and enthusiastic spectators. All in the unique setting of the Wadden Sea National Park," said Matthias Regber from the organising company Choppy Water GmbH and congratulated world champion Adamo Vrieswijk: "With his outstanding performance at this world championship, he has proven himself to be a worthy world champion!"
