Nicolas Goyard from France dominated the iQFOiL field in the Medal Races and took victory in the tradition-steeped Trofeo Princesa Sofia. After his triumph, the Frenchman was particularly pleased with the significance of his success. "This is really good. Not just because it's first place, but because it confirms all the work I've done behind the scenes and so many steps I've worked on," explained Goyard after his victory. Goyard emphasises that this success means more than just the result itself. It is a new step forward in his development, which makes him even happier than the result itself.
Goyard was in the leading group throughout the week, but only took the lead in the decisive medal race on Saturday. Noah Lyons from the USA and Duncan Monaghan had also been in the lead at this point. While Lyons secured the silver medal, Monaghan slipped back to fourth place behind third-placed Nicolo Renna. PWA racer Johan Søe finished seventh, while Olympic champion Tom Reuveny came eighth. The best German was Lenny Friemel in 57th place, Max Körner took 68th place, Finley Evans finished in 102nd place.
Tamar Steinberg came out on top in the women's race and was delighted with her victory in Palma: "I'm really happy to win in Palma. It's a pretty special race. I think it's one of the most important competitions for us and everyone is here, so it's really nice to compete here," said the winner. Steinberg expressly praises the organisation of the event and emphasises that she had a lot of fun during the competitions. She went into the decisive race with great self-confidence, as she knew that these conditions were good for her. After all the athletes had a false start on their first attempt, she was a little lucky that everyone started too early.
Marta Magetti, the Olympic champion from Marseille, took silver ahead of Maya Gysler from Norway. Anastasyia Valkevich from Poland, who had led the rankings at the start, slipped down to tenth place, while world champion Emma Wilson took sixth place. Sophia Meyer and Emma Schleicher, the only German starters, finished 31st and 60th respectively.
