After co-favourite Sebastian Kördel did not make it into the final races, all eyes are now on the youngest member of Sailing Team Germany. Theresa Steinlein (22) finished eighth after the 14 qualifying races and made it through to the all-important Medal Series, in which the top ten from the preliminary rounds are allowed to take part. The mode here is as exciting as it is tough. In the quarter-finals, 4th to 10th place start in a race against each other. The top two advance to the semi-finals. There, the second and third place finishers from the qualifiers (Sharon Kantor from Israel and Marta Magetti from Italy) are already waiting for their opponents. There is also only one race in the semi-final and the two fastest will advance to the final for the three medals. The first of the preliminary rounds qualifies for the grand final. The winner of the qualifiers, in this case Great Britain's Emma Wilson, has therefore already secured a medal - only the colour has not yet been decided. Theresa Steinlein will face Helene Noesmoen (FRA), Katerina Svikova (CZE), Maja Dziarnowska (POL), Maria Belen Bazon German (PER), Veerle ten Have (NZL) and Zheng Yan (CHN) in the quarter-finals. It currently looks as if there will be a constant 20 knot wind today. Not necessarily an advantage for the light wind specialist Steinlein. But as she said confidently: "Anything is possible on the final day!" We are keeping our fingers crossed.
The races can be watched on the World Sailing can be followed in the tracker (no livestream). ZDF and ARD offer a livestream.
