On 30 May 2025, the documentary "L E N A" about the first German big wave surfer Lena Kemna celebrated its premiere. The film provides an insight into Lena's journey to the monumental waves of Nazaré in Portugal and paints a moving portrait of her challenges and successes. "L E N A" aims to convey the fascination for big wave surfing and at the same time show the inner struggles of an athlete realising her dream.
The film was shot against the impressive backdrop of Nazaré, one of the most famous big wave spots in the world. It not only documents Lena's sporting achievements, but also her deep respect for the power of the ocean. The filming was supported by Lena's partner "Dryrobe"
As part of the Surf Film Night, "L E N A" will be shown in several German cities from August 2025. Lena Kemna will be present in person at the screenings in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg and will talk about her experiences and the making of the film in a Q&A session. The series of events offers surf enthusiasts the opportunity to learn more about the challenges and fascination of big wave surfing. The screenings start on 20 August in Berlin and end on 12 September in Offenbach. The open-air screenings at the ARTE summer cinema at the Kulturforum in Berlin or the Zeise Open Air in Hamburg are likely to be particularly atmospheric.
