Tandem windsurfers will be gathering at Lake Zülpich on 12 July for the Fred Ostermann Cup. With temperatures of 31 degrees and a north-easterly wind of seven knots, the organisers are expecting ideal conditions, particularly for less experienced participants.

The 2026 Fred Ostermann Cup will take place on 12 July on Lake Zülpich in the Rhineland. According to the organisers, seven teams have confirmed their participation. Sail size is limited to 7.8 square metres, which, combined with the expected wind conditions, should particularly benefit teams with less experience. The weather forecast promises sunshine at 31 degrees Celsius and a moderate north-easterly wind of seven knots. The organisers are still hoping for further entries to expand the field of competitors. Last weekend, 19 teams in Reeuwijk near Gouda in the Netherlands demonstrated the level of interest in similar events.

Procedure and timetable

The skippers’ meeting is scheduled for 12 noon on Sunday 12 July. The first race will take place immediately after the meeting, at around 1 pm. The organisers are planning a total of four races, which will be held throughout the day.
