Lots of spray and a flawless rotation: Leon Jamaer's taka from the "Last Call" in surf 10/2024 in the sequence.

"The day started a little disappointingly. Looking out of the van, there were hardly any waves to be seen in Middles, even though it had been windy all night. Friends who had been out earlier reported that Klitmøller didn't look much better either. Unexpectedly, however, the conditions got going, the 4.7 fitted perfectly and soon the head-high sets were coming in regularly. As the wind was blowing slightly offshore and there was very little sand on the rocks, the waves were nice and clean and travelled far to leeward. It remained relatively empty on this perfect summer's day and everyone had a big smile on their faces as they shared the waves.

I used the lab conditions to test and compare a bunch of different quad fins. I had actually already surfed completely empty and had hardly any strength left in my arms, but I still wanted to try out a thruster setup. I had put together the setup myself from an old G10 fin and wave rider side fins. On the second wave, I threw myself into this taka and was a little surprised by the rotation of the move, which was a little more vertical than with four fins. I was all the more pleased to ride out of the manoeuvre in front of the wave. That was the last move of the day for me, after which I went straight ashore and headed home."
