The VDWS message on Facebook reads: "It is with great sadness and deep respect that we bid farewell to our Honorary Chairman, Thomas Weinhardt, who passed away on 12 November 2024 after a long and serious illness.
His dedication, passion and tireless efforts have shaped the VDWS like no other over the past 40 years. Thomas has not only promoted our work and values, but has also created countless friendships and connections within our community.
Thomas' legacy will live on, not only in the structures and principles that he was instrumental in shaping, but also in the memory of the time we were able to spend with him. Let us continue in his spirit and carry on what he lived and worked for.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Katrin and all his relatives.
The funeral takes place in the smallest, closest family circle. This is expressly requested."
