World Cup party in the tent: possible again in 2022!
For many visitors to Sylt, the World Cup party in the tent is just as much a part of their holiday as Gosch and the car train. Can we party again like before Corona? And: There's a World Cup collection again!

After a two-year coronavirus break, the Mercedes-Benz Windsurf World Cup Sylt is back in the starting blocks for 2022. From 23 September to 3 October, it will be world-class windsurfing during the day and partying in the party tent in the evening. But are there any coronavirus-related restrictions or requirements? We asked co-organiser Birgit Ballhause from Act Agency.

Will the tent return in its familiar and popular form?

There will be parties in the tent, just like there used to be. We don't yet know exactly how many people we can let in. We don't have the guidelines yet, but at the moment we're planning the same as usual. Gosch will no longer be represented in the tent, but there will be a new Italian restaurant, but the layout will be similar to previous years.

Are there any corona requirements or recommendations?

Not at the moment. But the Corona Ordinance expires on 23 September, and as there is no new one at the moment, we don't yet know 100 per cent of our requirements.

The "World Cup Village" with numerous exhibitors is also planned again on the Westerland promenade. What are the highlights?

There will be a fashion partner again this year, with its own World Cup Sylt collection. Mercedes will once again have its Sports Garage, and Alpina Watches will have a fun stand with lots of action and a photo box.

We will also be focussing on our sustainability theme again, but this year in a completely different way to 2019: there will be a Sylt Tourism tent dedicated solely to this topic, with lots of hands-on activities.

How do you like this article?

At the northern end of the promenade we will be there again with our surf tent and look forward to your visit! You can find all the information about the World Cup in the special!

His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
