The Windsurf Cup is also coming to Heiligenhafen in 2024
The first dates for the Multivan Windsurf Cup 2024 have been finalised: in addition to the classics of Sylt and St. Peter-Ording, the event will also be returning to Heiligenhafen. Pelzerhaken will also be another Baltic Sea spot.

Five stops of the Multivan Windsurf Cup 2024 have already been confirmed, but more may be added according to the organisers from Choppy Water. All interested racers can already make a note of these dates:

  • 18 - 24 May: Summer Opening Sylt
  • 28 - 30 June: Windsurf Cup Pelzerhaken
  • 11 - 14 July: Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording
  • 23 - 28 July: Windsurf Cup Sylt
  • 29 August - 1 September: Windsurf Cup Heiligenhafen

While Sylt and St. Peter Ording are permanent fixtures in the DWC calendar, Heiligenhafen was back this year for the first time in a long time. The fantastic backdrop with the pier, plenty of space on land and easy accessibility were decisive factors in the decision to return to Heiligenhafen in 2024. While the event ran as a Formula European Championship this year, it will become a "regular" DWC regatta next season.

Pelzerhaken is another Baltic spot that is easily accessible and where the conditions are not too tough, even for regatta newcomers. "The location offers perfect conditions for water sports enthusiasts thanks to its coastal orientation. Pelzerhaken is one of the few locations on the Bay of Lübeck where the typical south-westerly wind does not blow offshore," says Matthias Regber from Choppy Water GmbH, which organises the Multivan Windsurf Cup. The surf festival has also been held in Pelzerhaken for many years.

The focus in 2024 is on newcomers to the regatta

Regber continues: "We are delighted to be able to present such a strong Multivan Windsurf Cup Tour again in 2024. We have placed a special focus on beginners for the coming season. In addition to various support measures, this is also reflected in the choice of spots for the German top series. With Pelzerhaken and Heiligenhafen, the 2024 tour offers two venues that are extremely beginner-friendly. The conditions in the area make it easier to get into the regatta scene and the spots are easy to reach. This should motivate many windsurfers to take the plunge into competitive windsurfing in 2024."

In addition to the events of the Multivan Windsurf Cup, there will also be new events in the coming year with the new ProAm Windsurf Cups (professionals and amateurs) additional entry-level regattas for hobby windsurfers and amateurs to pave the way to regatta sport. Three ProAm Windsurf Cups have already been organised for the season: Surendorf on Eckernförde Bay, Strande near Kiel and Wittensee.

As always, the events in St. Peter-Ording and on Sylt offer the chance of a "wave alarm". At the event in St. Peter, in addition to the competitions, there will be an event village with various adventure worlds in the middle of the Wadden Sea National Park. At the Van-Life Expo, visitors can discover everything they need to live in a car, bus or van. There will also be a Windsurf & Wingfoil Expo with a test festival for the first time.
