The Multivan Windsurf Cup can look back on a windy and successful weekend on the beach in St. Peter-Ording. In the end, a complete wave classification and a total of ten slalom eliminations are in the books. Holger Beer won the wave discipline and Michele Becker secured the slalom classification.

After four windy days, the Multivan Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording came to an end on Sunday. The North Sea resort showed its best side with a 100 per cent wind yield. Excellent conditions prevailed on all four days. In the end, a complete waveriding and no less than ten slalom eliminations were completed. Michele Becker (GER-277, Fanatic, Duotone) from Kiel won most of the slaloms. Even though the final day was exciting again, he dominated the event overall.

Holger Beer (GER-789, Quatro, S2Maui, MauiUltraFins) from Flensburg had already secured victory in the wave discipline on Thursday. He fought his way to the top over four rounds. Beer then faced youngster Mats von Holten (GER-2019, Fanatic, Duotone) in the final. In a thrilling duel, Beer was able to secure first place ahead of von Holten. In the battle for third place, Dennis Müller (GER-89, Patrik, Gun Sails) from Norderney came out on top against local hero Florian Gawer (GER-949, Simmer Style).

From Friday to Sunday, the focus was then on the second discipline, slalom. Unfortunately, two of the top favourites, Vincent Langer, who had to miss out due to illness, and Nico Prien, were absent. Gunnar Asmussen and Michele Becker were therefore the favourites to win the Multivan Windsurf Cup in St. Peter. Michele Becker took the lead right from the start. He was able to pull further and further away over the course of the second day. On the final day, however, things got exciting once again. On Saturday, Becker had slightly injured his foot during the races. The pain intensified overnight. Nevertheless, he secured second place in the first race of the final day. He then retired to rest up for the DM on Sylt in a fortnight' time. Becker's points lead was big enough. In the end, Michel Becker won five races. He also took two second and one third place. After eight races, each driver can cancel his worst three results. In the overall standings, Becker scored 7.5 points, making him the convincing winner of the Multivan Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording 2022 in the slalom discipline.

In second place is multiple world champion Gunnar Asmussen (GER-2, Starboard Severne) from Flensburg. Asmussen won three races in his favour. He had a bad start to the regatta, but then got better and better. In the end, he achieved a score of 11.1, making him a well-deserved second place.

Following his third place in the wave on Thursday, Dennis Müller (GER-89, Patrik, Gun Sails) from Norderney was also hoping for a podium finish in the slalom. He was breathing down the neck of the three leaders for two days and kept the pressure high. On the final day, he then took his chance to attack. With two run wins and a second place, he was the best of the day and was able to overtake Jonne Heimann, who had previously been in third place. With 17.4 points, he completed the podium at the Multivan Windsurf Cup.

Jonne Heimann (GER-107, Tabou, Sailloft) had a good start to the regatta. The youngster was initially able to finish on the podium in most of the races. On the last and penultimate day, however, he slipped up a few times and ended up with 24.0 points in the final standings, which pushed him off the podium. Heimann can, however, console himself with victory in the Youth U21 age group. This youngster will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

The battles for fifth place were very intense. The positions changed with almost every run. In the end, Justus Schott came out on top with 37.0 points to complete the top five and finish second in the Youth U21 ahead of Dutchman Jelle van der Veen (NED-225, NoveNove, Point-7), who is in ninth place in the overall standings.

In the Youth U19 classification at the Multivan Windsurf Cup, another Dutchman, Koen Hessels (NED-88, Starboard, Severne), was successful. Hessels won this age category with a 6th place overall ahead of Leo Richter (GER-442, JP Australia, NeilPryde) from Kiel. Third place went to Meno Büchler (GER-91, Soöruz, Severne, Starboard) from Heidkate. Eric Wehkamp (GER-240, Fanatic, Duotone) won the Junior U17 classification ahead of Jesse Richter (GER-180, RRD, Severne).

In addition to the sport on the water, the Multivan Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording offered a great supporting and party programme. A fantastic event village was set up on the beach in Ording for the four days of the event. There was a wide range of catering, promotion and sales stands. A special highlight of the event in SPO was the Vanlife World. In addition to the latest Bullis and California models from title sponsor Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, a wide range of products and services relating to "outdoor mobility" were presented there. From roof tents and conversion solutions to camping accessories, you could find everything you need for a mobile lifestyle in the great outdoors.
