The new issue of surf is here! We’ve tested ten 2026 freerace boards, show you some hidden gem campsites in Denmark, the evolution of freestyle moves and much more!

Topics in this article

Why is progress always thought of in vertical terms? Jumping higher, racing faster, going further out. What if progress is horizontal? Seeing more broadly, sensing more finely, staying longer. You can spend ten years perfecting the same jibe and only in the eleventh year feel how the sail lightens and hear how the rail responds in the water. The flow doesn’t care about numbers; it just asks whether you’re there. Among freestylers, no one has ever said: ‘Right, today I’m going to invent a new move!’ No, it just happened. Josh Stone was ‘there’, in the flow, and accidentally rotated too far during the air jibe. As we see in the “Freestyle Evolution” As you’ll find out in the new issue, each Move built on the one before it, and the discipline grew to unimaginable heights all of its own accord – without any pressure or set guidelines.

However, to experience this liberating sense of being in the moment on the water, it can help not only to listen more closely, but also to step outside your comfort zone every now and then. surf editor Manuel Vogel set off with two mates and they took part in the “Mission Pushloop” Exactly that: higher, more twisted, further – and they were so very much ‘in the zone’. The result was not only whiplash, but also an entertaining feature on unforgettable days of surfing to kick off the new issue. The most important lesson they came home with: make sure you don’t lose the fun because of the pressure you put on yourself. After all, not every wave is meant to be conquered; some are meant to be enjoyed.

Just as we want to see you through the summer with the new issue’s 132 pages of varied surfing content. As well as Summer wetsuit and thought-provoking, as well as dreamy, reports, we have turned our attention to the third part of the Camping Specials dedicated to this topic and showcase eleven of the most beautiful spots along Denmark’s North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. In the main Freeraceboard review You’ll also find out which planes really get the adrenaline pumping. But don’t forget: the horizon doesn’t get any closer the more we shut ourselves away. And that’s a good thing. Otherwise, we’d have no reason to head out again. So, with that in mind: take it easy!
