To test the ‘Plus’ models, three small teams set off in different directions – with large boards in their luggage. Surf editor Manuel headed off to Denmark with his team and some unusually large waveboards – just a short trip for him, as he’s greeted with a handshake at the bakery in Hanstholm – but would it also yield some major insights? Stephan literally pitched his tent by Lake Garda for a few days to explore the limits of freeriding with his test partner. Fortunately, surf editor Julian has a view of the Rhine almost from his desk and was able to invite his guest testers and photographer Chris Hafer out onto the water for a bit of fun at a moment’s notice. In the end, all these impressions came together – you can read about the results in the magazine and soon here on surf-magazin.de!

“The best time is now!” replied many professionals in a quick survey carried out during the World Cup on Sylt. Really? Wouldn’t you rather have been raking in the big bucks in the 90s? No, top-quality kit and plenty of freedom are more important to many riders. Passion trumps business, which, as we know, currently has little to celebrate. On Sylt, many windsurfing enthusiasts came together with even more ideas. The joint stand run by surf and Blackroll was effectively the windsurfing scene’s think tank: everyone wants to go full throttle to make the sport big again. For nine days, plans were forged and projects set in motion. Some still have big question marks hanging over them, whilst others are almost a reality. But if passion and commitment are the yardstick, great times lie ahead for windsurfing once again!

Do you really need a bucket list? Perhaps not – because if you turn life into a checklist, you run the risk of missing out on the moment itself whilst you’re too busy ticking things off. After all, the best experiences are often the ones that were never planned. On the other hand, big plans can provide exactly the push that’s sometimes needed: They lead to new spots, take you out of your comfort zone and sometimes even bring you back to dreams that have long since faded from view in everyday life. So the key isn’t to tick everything off as quickly as possible. A good bucket list should get longer as you live it – because every adventure whets your appetite for the next one. In our photo feature, we’re therefore showcasing 15 experiences we’d wish for every windsurfer. Not as a must-do list, but as an invitation. Which of these have long been part of your story – and which might, after reading this issue, mark the start of a new one?
