Luck and despair sometimes go hand in hand: a very good wind yield in September gave the surf test team plenty of good test days for the 2026 wave boards. With an unusually comfortable time cushion until the editorial deadline, pictures and scores were in the can - lucky for us, as the wind died down just in time for the start of the World Cup on Sylt and could only be felt as a gentle easterly breeze for days.
Not ideal for the biggest windsurfing event in the world, but thanks to foil racing, there was still a lot more action than would have been possible a few years ago. Drones were used to broadcast the action from far out onto the screen on the beach, and the freestyle was even judged with drones. Just last weekend, the World Cup ended with an epic final. We were there up close and personal and show you the best pictures once again in the new surf issue!
Speaking of pictures: Cover hero Antoine Martin has brought us some great shots from la Reunion and reports on a "recovery trip" between the Canary Islands Cups.
And PWA pro and YouTube icon Nico Prien tells you how you can take great shots of yourself while surfing, plus there are DIY instructions for camera mounts and pro mounts in the test! You can also help decide which equipment groups we take to Tobago for the big test in February! Have fun with the new surf!
