The 2024 Olympic Games open on Friday and the iQFoilers get started on Sunday. First impressions from the Olympic windsurfers' training!

Most of the starters have been in Marseille for some time to familiarise themselves with the conditions in the Olympic area and make final adjustments to their equipment. The iQFoil equipment looks a little different than usual: boards and sails have neither logos nor lettering, but the standardised stickers with the flag, country abbreviations and the Olympic rings.

More about Olympia and iQFoil:

Even though the German Olympic starters Sebastian Kördel and Theresa Steinlein have not yet appeared in the official pictures, the picture gallery above gives an impression of the Olympic area. The forecast for the first week of the Olympics promises very light winds at first, which will pick up towards the Medal Races on Friday 2 August.

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
