2016: Wind is in short supply for the time being, but a solid swell arrives at Brandenburg beach. Ricardo Campello and other riders bob out and have fun in the unusually clean waves - as does organiser Matthias Neumann on the SUP.

2011: Philip Köster becomes the first German Wave World Champion, cheered on by thousands of spectators at the award ceremony

His sponsor celebrates him with an aeroplane circling over the beach.

2019: A storm surge rages at night, the next day the entire beach is still under water. The surfers pull their equipment out of the sand and start their heats early in the morning on the raging North Sea.

This year, the World Cup Sylt officially starts on 26 September and runs until 5 October. In addition to the waveriders, the foil slalom riders and freestylers will also be competing.
