boot Düsseldorf saw the crowning finale of the first event of the Freestyle Pro Tour 2026 on Sunday, 25 January 2026. In a thrilling showdown, Yentel Caers won the men's and Maaike Huvermann the women's Tow-In Freestyle titles. The finalists fought thrilling head-to-head duels, with the first athlete with three points being crowned champion. The riders competed one after the other and the rider with the higher scoring move was awarded the point - simple but exciting. While Maaike Huvermann defeated German hope Lisa Kloster with a clear 3:0, a dramatic race developed in the men's event between Yentel Caers and Lennart Neubauer, which was only decided in the all-important fifth round.
The freestylers had already demonstrated their skills the day before in the qualification. The women's fleet with Elena Dominick, Maaike Huvermann and Lisa Kloster opened the competition day with an early training session at 8am - a clear sign of their determination and enthusiasm. While Maaike performed clean culos, Lisa worked on stylish funnel clocks and Elena landed flawless spocks. Among the men, Foivos Tsoupras stood out with spectacular burners, cana bravas and his newly discovered tow-in shaka, proving that he is one of the most entertaining tow-in riders. In the men's competition, however, the air funnel burner emerged as the decisive trick - and it was first landed by Lennart Neubauer and then Yentel Caers.
According to the new format, only the top two from the qualification met in today's final for a head-to-head duel: Lennart Neubauer and Yentel Caers as well as Maaike Huvermann and Lisa Kloster were ready for the duels on Sunday lunchtime in front of a packed Hall 17. Maaike Huvermann dominated the women's event with a clean air funnel, bob and culo and gave Lisa Kloster, who also almost put a very difficult culo on the pool, no chance with a clear 3:0. The men's competition, on the other hand, was a thrilling duel. After a 2:0 lead for Yentel Caers, Lennart fought his way back into the race and levelled the score at 2:2 with a clean double culo. The exhibition centre was on fire when Lennart landed a beautiful airbob, but actually wanted more. And it wasn't enough - Yentel countered in the all-important fifth heat with a burner into funnel, which narrowly gave him the win.
The atmosphere around the XX Pool in Hall 17 was electric. The spectators experienced freestyle windsurfing at the highest level and honoured the spectacular tricks with plenty of applause. The decisive duels in the final in particular, where every move could make the difference between victory and defeat, kept the tension high right up to the last second. boot Düsseldorf once again proved that it is more than just a classic trade fair, but also offers a first-class platform for high-calibre competitions.
