Behind the scenes at the Patrik T4A Project – Episode 1
It had been clear since last summer that Patrik had big plans in the wave sector. First, John Skye was brought on board as a developer, and then over the winter, big names such as Alessio Stillrich, Adam Warchol, Leon Jamaer, Alexia and Carlos Kiefer were recruited to the team. Shortly before the Pozo World Cup, the next clue emerged: under the name “T4A Project”, the developers and team were working flat out; now this YouTube clip offers a first glimpse behind the scenes. John Skye and marketing manager Henning Terstiege explain how they began by getting an overview of the existing products last autumn, how the testing went and how the team was put together. We’re excited to see what happens next!

No video, but still well worth a look: whenever good conditions are forecast at the legendary Diamond Head on Oahu, Robby Naish regularly sets off from Maui – travelling light, as he always has gear to hand on the neighbouring island too. 3.3 at full throttle! Arne Jörn goes for his first double loops
Arne Jörn The Kooks on the Water are unstoppable. Not only is he raising his game in freestyle, but the 19-year-old from Hamburg is also going all out in the waves. In the latest video, he attempts a double on a 3.3-metre swell in Denmark. Respect!
50 knots in Denmark – Nick Spangenberg in Blåvand, Hvide Sande and Hanstholm
Last week’s summer storm also drew Nick Spangenberg towards Denmark. In his vlog, he shows his road trip to Blåvand, Hvide Sande and Hanstholm. Stunning footage captured with the 360-degree camera and from the beach, with wild conditions and waves of 3.2 and 3.7 at their peak!

The Windsurfer LT is actually a weapon for light winds and is also ideal as a SUP. It’s unlikely anyone would think of riding a wave on it in 30-knot winds – except Lucas Guiraud. Our assessment based on the clip: the Windsurfer LT rides quite well over the rail with reasonable control, but its responsiveness when turning via the back foot really could be improved.
The most spectacular crashes at Cloudbreak
Another brilliant drone clip from Paul van Bellen: the most spectacular wipeouts from the Fiji Pro World Cup in Fiji! Incidentally, apart from Jaeger Stone’s injury, all the wipeouts were relatively minor. And the shots at the start give you a sense of how the spot works. So: definitely worth a watch!
With Bernd Roediger at Cloudbreak – including a cheeseroll off the lip

The one-of-a-kind Paul van Bellen accompanied Cloudbreak winner Bernd Roediger on a wave with his drone – from an unusual perspective, directly from above. Roediger’s incredibly elegant style is just as evident as his knowledge of the waves: For when one section has already come to an end, the Hawaiian spots another peak and goes all out. Whether the cheeseroll off the lip – which ultimately leads to a crash – was actually intentional, or whether Bernd was simply flung off the lip, is open to speculation.

Cloudbreak takes no prisoners, as Baptiste Cloarec found out the hard way. The 2023 winner pulled off this spectacular ride, right in front of Paul van Bellens’ drone. Whilst his board flew over the wave face and then went ‘over the falls’, the young Frenchman was treated to an involuntary, rough ride down the tube.

Fabi Wolf is one of Germany’s top windsurfers. In this clip, he shows the spot where he first tried his hand at windsurfing. At the age of nine, he stood on a board for the first time at the Nieblum Surf School on Föhr, and later discovered the joy of regatta windsurfing at the Föhr Cup. “Now I travel all over the world for competitions. But when I come back here, it still feels exactly the same!”

Spectacular jumps, challenging conditions and a huge crowd. Indoor windsurfing offered unique action and impressive displays. The confined space, gusty winds and the short run-up to the ramp made every jump a real challenge. Riders such as Ricardo Campello demonstrated their full range of skills and created unforgettable moments in front of thousands of spectators. It’s a format we’d love to see again.

We all know this, of course, but it can’t be said often enough – and perhaps this video from Starboard will ‘spark’ an interest in one or two newcomers. “The fascination of windsurfing manifests itself in many different ways. It’s not just about the highest jumps, the fastest runs or nailing the latest trick. It’s about the feeling of being on the water, chasing the wind, pushing your limits and sharing unforgettable moments with friends. From speed runs and freestyle tricks to crashes, wipeouts and those perfect sessions where everything clicks and every moment takes you further,” the video says. The legendary F2 Wave 254 put to the test
Yellow, small, with very trendy graphics and, of course, the legendary dragon: the F2 Wave was a real eye-catcher in the nineties (and, for some members of the surf editorial team, one of the most beautiful boards of all time). Freestyler George Grisley, a year younger than the F2, got hold of one and put the board through three challenges: surfing faster than 30 knots, a front loop and – as a tribute to Josh Stone – the Spock. Even though Stone’s signature board was actually the F2 Air, it’s a very entertaining video!
Robby Naish is as fit as ever with a solid north swell at Ho’okipa

63-year-old Robby Naish shows no signs of slowing down – and in his latest clip, he tears through some solid Ho’okipa waves in his usual style: ““Although I’ve mainly been wing foiling of late because the windsurfing conditions haven’t exactly been great, I felt really strong and wasn’t as out of practice as I’d expected. I’m absolutely thrilled,” writes Naish under his video.
The catchy track “Ride Like A Pirate” by Windman1111, which plays in the background of the video, also seems to be tailor-made for Naish and Maui. Have a look.
Using the defibrillator on the launch boat – behind the scenes with George Grisley
“I’ve got the best job at Defi Wind!” says UK freestyler George Grisley. He was in charge of the official social media channels during the mega race and takes us behind the scenes in this video. The best bit? The start! Racing at full throttle on the start boat past 1,400 windsurfers at full power – that’s a unique perspective. “But the best bit is when the boat turns at the end and you see the whole field all at once!” says George. It’s well worth it!
