"If you knew a language but hadn't spoken it for years... Would you be curious to immerse yourself in the language and see what your conversational skills are like? Well, that was the case this week. 'I wanted to put on a harness, put my feet back in the straps and see if I could still speak my native languages...' writes Pete Cabrinha, who hasn't been windsurfing for years. A few days ago he shared this fantastic session with Robby Naish on Maui.
Just recently Maciek Rutkowski surfed across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to PolandBob van de Burgt completed a similar mission on the North Sea last year. The Dutch foil worldcupper travelled to England in one day - and back again! He has now released a documentary about his 18-hour marathon journey. "A crazy 400-kilometre journey across the North Sea. My goal: to raise as much money as possible for children with muscle diseases," he writes in the accompanying text. "This documentary film tells the story of my crossing: the preparation, the highs, the lows, but above all the end result for Spieren voor Spieren!"
Limbo dancing can also be more dignified than the drunken club tourists are known for. Nico Prien demonstrates the windsurfing limbo: how deep can he ride the laydown jibe? In Turkey, Nico feels his way step by step to his personal low point - in the best sense of the word. As always, very well made and entertainingly told!

Arne Jörn is knocked out of both foot straps when jumping off a Culos... What follows is a rough landing on the underside of his board: "Not everything can always go according to plan," writes the up-and-coming freestyler from Hamburg. He proves that he can do better in the following clip, in which he pulls off a solid double culo.
Nick Spangenberg is living the dream of countless windsurfers: he travelled to Peru and surfed the longest wave of his life in Pacasmayo. This is also the title of the video in which he talks about his trip. Together with Flo Jung, he showed the participants of a camp how to ride the endless waves. "It was great to see how each day and wave after wave got better!" enthused Nick. Afterwards, we went to a fantastic house right next to another break. Great shots with atmospheric music to dream to!
The foiled tack is now standard for the regatta pros, but Nico Prien has set himself the "normal" tack on a fin board. The goal: the glided tack! Watch the video to see whether he manages it and what difficulties he faces!

Erin was one of the first hurricanes of the 2025 season and raged across the Atlantic in August. The waves produced by Erin hit the west coast of Ireland some time later. Naturally, wave spotter Thomas Traversa had his eye on such a rare swell, so he made his way to Bundoran in the north-west of the Emerald Isle. Glassy waves with sunshine and more than 20 degrees made the trip more than worthwhile - but in the end there was also some rain, Ireland has a reputation to lose after all. The clip on Instagram will whet your appetite for more, we look forward to seeing more pictures!
It's been a few weeks since the World Cup in Pozo - but the images and memories of wave riding in hardcore wind are still fresh in our minds! Reason enough to enjoy watching this great clip from WindsurfingTV and Ben Proffitt: The complete women's double elimination in review, with lots of action and statements from the riders!
Robby Naish is always on the hunt for good conditions: He recently flew over from Maui to Oahu "last minute" to catch a solid south swell at his old home spot Diamond Head. What sounds exhausting is actually an effortless little surf trip for the 62-year-old, as Naish always keeps a set of equipment, including his car, on the neighbouring island. So he jumps on the plane in board shorts with hand luggage and a few hours later is riding the first blue left-hand wave against the breathtaking backdrop of Oahu's south coast...
Watch, marvel and dream... Antoine Martin in perfect down-the-line conditions in La Réunion. If that's not enough, you can also look forward to the detailed photo story with first-hand information in the next issue (surf 11-12_2025).

Lennart Neubauer combines a Spock with three Culos in a shallow water lagoon in Brazil.
In doing so, he pushes the boundaries of what is possible in freestyle. The triple culo alone is a distant goal for many cracks - Lennart adds a smooth spock on top. The speed and technique he has to use to lose as little speed as possible is phenomenal.
Polakow with wind from the left in Ho'okipa and Co. Paul van Bellen makes this dream of many European windsurfers come true in a mirrored version of "About Time". If you're a North Sea surfer who mainly surfs with wind from the left, for example, this "Port Tack Edition" should put you in the mindset of the radical turns and jumps from the legendary film. Have fun with it.

Nobody does aerials as high as Camille Juban! Here's a short clip from a session at his home spot, on the outer reef of Guadeloupe. "Why did you let go?" asks Ricardo Campello in the comments. What do you think, could Camille have landed this aerial?

Everything has been said about Philip Köster's wave skills. But when it comes to freestyle, Köster is often underestimated. It is sometimes said that he can do more moves in this discipline than he knows their names. Philip often incorporates freestyle moves into his wave rides. This is also the case this time, with a backside air into Spock right at the beginning of the video - something you've never seen before.

Freestyle world champion Lennart Neubauer is currently training in Jeri and pushing his move combinations such as double shakas to the limit. The radical freestyle conditions in Brazil offer unlimited possibilities and the 21-year-old seems to be in top form. We can't wait to see more action from Jeri.
"The first surfers to utilise the full potential of the wave at Jaws were windsurfers," says Waterman Kai Lenny in his new video, in which he practices seven different water sports in one day at Jaws. But the fact that his roots and the roots of Jaws lie in windsurfing doesn't stop him from dropping into the massive waves with six other watersports equipment that day.

Balz Müller wonders how many backloops he can jump in a row with the foil.
He currently manages just under two, which is crazy enough. But the Swiss rider wants more: "As soon as I've managed three, nine will also work, and I'm pretty sure that I'll then have the necessary momentum to do an infinite number of loops."
Sounds plausible? Nothing is impossible for "Radiculo".
Geert Groenewegen started building his own surfboards to pass the time during the coronavirus pandemic. This became a passion, Geert builds anything that resembles a surfboard in his small garden in Noordwijk and creates great YouTube videos! He recently started a project to convert an old windsurfing board into a wave rider - after all, the foam core is big enough. In the video, he shows why it didn't work out with a Mistral Flow, what challenges the old Klepper posed and how he turned it into a fish!
Where are the differences between a current board and a slalom board from 2005? If anyone can explain this in detail, it's long-time shaper Patrik Diethelm, who used to develop boards for F2 and now designs them for his own brand PATRIK. It's worth taking a look.

A no-handed flaka in switch stance by Leon Struppeck from Kiel. The winner of the last German Freestyle Battle on Fehmarn wonders whether this might be the first on camera. He had never seen a flaka like this before. Many freestylers express their enthusiasm in the comments. However, Andy Bubble Chambers writes that he landed this move back in 2004, but doesn't have it on video. Anyway - a beautiful and technically highly demanding move!
You can count the droplets from the spray one by one - these images in super slow motion are so razor-sharp and precise. It's been a while since the IWT contest in Margaret River, but now Reflex Films has ennobled the event once again with a great edit. Images from the land camera and spectacular drone footage of Paul van Bellen combined with riders such as Jaeger Stone, Julian Salmonn and Philip Köster!
Regardless of whether you want to win a slalom race or want to understand it better as a spectator, or simply want to beat your friends at the home spot - Nico Prien provides valuable insights and tips in his latest video. In just under 20 minutes, the four chapters cover the start, overtaking manoeuvres on the straight or in the jibe, the right line, reading swells and jumping over the obstacle.

Have you always dreamed of being the first to cross the finish line at an event? Nothing could be easier, Bruno Martini explains exactly how to do it in this short clip. The Slalom X at the World Cup on Fuerte had it all! The PWA has summarised a few of the most spectacular crashes in a clip! And at the end you can see impressively how you should do it on the "sausage"... and how not to do it!

Antoine Martin is currently travelling to La Reunion, where there are some of the most amazing wave spots in the world. Anyone who, like Antoine, sets off for an aerial in Etang Salé should know what they're doing, because the spot doesn't forgive mistakes. A botched landing here is tantamount to going ashore over a razor-sharp reef peppered with sea urchins. But we also take our hats off to the water photographer, because a full wash is no walk in the park here, even without surf equipment. La Reunion is also considered to be extremely "sharky".

A freestyler's sail goes flying at the Spock into Culo in Risco del Paso on Fuerteventura. The strong wind lifts it into the air and it shoots over the sandbank towards the sea. A tricky affair!
