Freestyler Pawel Szulc celebrates a "real" slalom on Fuerte - in other words, not a downwind course with long legs, but a casual waggle around the obstacles like a downhill run. The freestyle equipment provides the necessary manoeuvrability, the obstacles are flagpoles in the Sotavento lagoon. Looks fun - perhaps an option for the next Slalom X World Cup?

The best heats from Margret River!

It's been a while since the Wave World Cup in Margaret River, but the WWT regularly delights us with videos of the individual heats - complete with scoring and commentary! The conditions are fantastic, the footage absolutely worth seeing and the level impressive! In the men's final, Local Jaeger Stone finished ahead of Simon Thule, Julian Salmonn and Jake Ghiretti, here you can enjoy the heat in full length again - and console yourself a little over the fact that there is no wind, at least in the north. You can find more heats on the WWT YouTube account!

Thomas Traversa surfs storm Darragh in Brittany

More than a year has passed since Storm Darragh ravaged the North Atlantic. Back then, Thomas Traversa set off from Austria to capture exceptional conditions in Brittany. He has now published a video with spectacular drone footage, in which the nature of the spots and the wild power of nature can be experienced to some extent. By the way: We have the best images from these extraordinary days for you in this gallery: Thomas Traversa on a big wave mission in Brittany

Balz Müller goes crazy - foil freestyle in perfection

Balz Müller takes another shot in front of the lens! This time he surfs a breeze on Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland. Of course, he also takes a few rough falls. The only question that remains is who froze more on this icy cold day - Balz or his film maker "Wöufli"?

"I told him not to let go of the back hand. Instead, he just let go of everything," said Maciek Rutkowski, commenting on his compatriot Adam Kelar's pithy exit. The young racer - ranked 3rd in the PWA U17 ranking list in 2025 and 4th on the Fin - lost contact with the boom as soon as he jumped off, causing his rig to rotate through the loop on its own. At around the apex, the board also decided "Not with me!" and detached from the rig. At least Adam didn't have to swim far, as the board hit the water right next to him - luckily the Pole was wearing a Helmet!

Even after the end of his World Cup career, Klaas Voget hasn't forgotten anything: he posted some very interesting clips and pictures from a trip to Chile with friends. The group was obviously lucky with the conditions, as the waves look official and well over mast-high. And the pictures also make you want to pay the spots a visit...

Robby Naish shares this clip of drone footage from his recent wave and flat water sessions off Maui. The FPV drone was controlled by Patrick Lombardi, who has often caused a stir with breathtaking clips of windsurfing, wingfoiling and other sports. "In the past, filming like this would have cost thousands of dollars for helicopters and the like," says Robby.

Big wave surfer Sebastian Steudtner as a guest on Aktuelle Sportstudio

Nuremberg big wave surfer Sebastian Steudtner was recently a guest on the current affairs programme Aktuelles Sportstudio. In this exciting programme, he talks about unofficial world records, the fight for recognition and how Hawaii legends once insulted him as "Hitler's stepson who can't paddle". Anyone interested in Sebastian Steudtner's story, can win tickets here for the upcoming documentary "On the Wave".

"For every good move you see, there are a lot of close calls that you can't stand... Most of the time they still feel great, but it definitely hurts when you watch them again in the video!" writes Moritz Mauch about this crash clip. Lots of white water, lots of really tight moves - and the reassuring realisation that even a rider as stylish as Moritz doesn't get everything right first time!

Shaka into Boardslide on sand! - Lennart Neubauer gets creative

Windsurfing meets skateboarding! Lennart Neubauer proved that he can handle obstacles and ramps back in the year 2021, when he built a windsurfing park on Naxos together with sponsor Red Bull and became a "ramp sow". Now he uses the sandy beach as a ledge for grinding during training in South Africa: "I didn't realise my board could do that," says the freestyle world champion. The first attempt looks bad...

"Is that real?" - This one-handed, one-legged backloop by Julian Salmonn is perfectly executed and filmed. Almost too good to be true - but it is!

This speed spot on the Grewelingenmeer in the Netherlands looks fantastic. A long stone dam blocks the waves and allows long speed runs on the leeward side of the dam. Nils Bach shot it with his drone.

Switch Stance Waveriding? Takuma Sugi in Western Australia

Nice action clip of Takuma Sugi in Western Australia. Towards the end of the video, the Japanese rider, who also competes in the Freestyle World Cup, gets creative and rides a mast-high wave in switch stance.

Another drone masterpiece from Paul van Bellenfilmed during the Margaret River Wave Classic. Especially for wave fans an absolute Must-watch!

Julian Salmonn is currently in Down Under for winter training - and is obviously in good shape. The whole clip is quite something, but the wave 360 at the beginning is next level.

Hardly any action, but still very entertaining: Balz Müller took a look at the preparations for the iQFOiL Games on Lanzarote, where the first runs are due to start today. The Swiss freestyler - equipped with a microphone on a beer bottle - met Johan Søe, coach Sebastian Kornum, Emi Galindo, Gonzalo Costa Hoevel and a few other iQFOiLers. His dream: super cross with the foil!

"Crazy Windsurf Roadtrip" - George Grisley explores Vietnam

British freestyler George Grisley explores remote spots around Phan Rang in Vietnam with his friends. As in our Spot guide of the region (produced in 2017), the moped with board mount still seems to be the number one means of transport on site - and the spots still look similarly sparsely populated. And the freestylers are having fun! Former European champion Davy Scheffers, who regularly travels to Vietnam to train in the winter, is also at the start and throws a few big moves in front of the lens.

This is what happens to a board bag at the airport - great animated film with Ben Proffitt and Paul van Bellen

A terrific gem: the animated film series "Wave Conquerors" is the best windsurfing comedy with lots of great details. In episode 6, even Ben Proffitt and Paul van Bellen both lent their voices to their comic versions. Only if you are planning a plane trip with windsurfing equipment, you should perhaps only watch this film once everything has arrived safely... Tip: The other episodes are also absolutely worth seeing!

Lakes and ponds are frozen over in many parts of Germany, and ice surfers, some of them homemade, are being pulled out and sent out onto the ice. Theresa Steinlein, sixth in the 2024 Olympics with the iQFOiL, also took to the frozen water at her home lake Wörthsee - with her sail from Marseille! By the way: the Ice Surfing and Waving World Championships will take place in Sweden in February! Find out more: Ice Surfing World Championship 2026 in Västerås/Sweden
