For all kids who want to get a taste of windsurfing, the Surf Festival on Fehmarn is once again organising the Saltwater Kids Camp in cooperation with surf and the VDWS, supported by Bauck Mühle Müsli and Waterkant. Experienced surf instructors and surf editors Manuel Vogel and Julian Wiemar will introduce the youngsters to their first steps on the board and try to light the fire for the best sport in the world!
After last year's successful premiere, there will be even more courses and places in 2026. From Thursday 14 May to Saturday 16 May, two courses will be offered each day, at 10:00 and 12:00. On Sunday, the final day of the festival, there will also be a course at 12.00 noon. Registration takes place on site at the Saltwater stand, directly on the promenade next to the surf tent.
To take part in a course, all you need is swimwear and a towel for afterwards. Everything else - from wetsuits and buoyancy waistcoats to equipment - is provided by Saltwater thanks to several partners. The aim is to give you your first windsurfing experience without any major entry hurdles.
Patron of the Saltwater Kids Academywho also offers free taster courses at other spots throughout the season, is windsurfing legend Bjørn Dunkerbeck. The 42-time world champion will once again be a guest at the 2026 Surf Festival and will certainly be present at some of the saltwater courses to motivate windsurfing newcomers and give them their first tips!
