Last week, Ricardo Campello announced that his previous sponsor Naish Windsurfing would no longer be supporting him. The PWA has now announced that Ricardo will also not be competing in the World Cup this year. Without a sponsor, the material and travelling costs are almost impossible to cover.
"As runner-up in 2023, we will certainly miss him on the Tour, but Ricardo assures us that this is definitely not the end of his competitive career and he plans to return to the Tour in 2025 (depending on the sponsor)!" the PWA continued.

Ricardo has not yet commented on his plans on his own channels. In his statement on the end of his collaboration with Naish, he wrote: "This is not the way I wanted to end my career, but I feel like it's coming to an end. Not because of age or anything, but as an athlete you have to be able to make a living from your sport, otherwise there's no point! I currently have no equipment sponsors for the 2024 season. My other two sponsors have cut my salary significantly. Many other brands have already closed their budgets and the big companies have already secured their most important riders. That leaves me with limited options."
