Pozo is always good for a thrilling finish. No wonder, as the rocky bay on Gran Canaria is famously known for its ferocious winds of 40 knots and more, which usually await the World Cup contingent when they arrive here, mostly in July. Many riders arrive well in advance to settle in and train in the rough conditions.
To get you in the mood, we’ve rummaged through the photo archives from the last ten years and are showing you the most spectacular crashes from past World Cups. Unsurprisingly, these are mainly wipe-outs in mid-air – Pozo is, after all, a jump spot. Riders like Antoine Martin and Ricardo Campello feature time and again. As we all know, these two know no fear and always take full risks. But Philip Köster is also there – a rider who usually manages almost everything at his home spot.
You can, of course, always find all the latest news from Pozo here on surf-magazin.de!
