The three best men at the IWT/PWA World Cup in Japan had to wait three days for their final. While four-time world champion Marcilio Browne confidently secured his place, Antoine Martin only managed to score the decisive points in the last minute of his semi-final. The young Japanese rider and Omaezaki local Takara Ishii won against Japan's top rider Takuma Sugi.
Brawzinho dominated the men's final, winning by a clear margin with flawless double forward loops and a stunning display of radical riding. Although he was up against two-time Aloha champion Antoine Martin and the hugely talented Takara Ishii, the reigning world champion took the lead early on and never relinquished it.
Crash during double loop costs Takara Ishii a tooth
The battle for second place between Martin, who recently switched to Quatro and Goya, and local hero Ishii was extremely exciting. The lead changed hands several times during the 30-minute finale, but in the end Tour veteran Martin took second place and Takara had to settle for third.
The young Takara put up a remarkable fight in front of his home crowd. He crashed during a radical double forward attempt and came back to land with a shattered front tooth. He continued with full commitment and to the delight of the spectators, his parents drove him straight to the dentist after the award ceremony!
