On the fourth day of the PWA/IWT Youth World Cup in Cold Hawaii, the venue changed to the shell reef of Klitmøller, where Sol Degrieck, Peter Gobisch and Mika Henning won the girls U20, boys U15 and U13 categories.

The first three days of the contest took place at the Fish Factory in Hanstholm, but when the wind direction changed, it was decided to move the event to Klitmøller - the conditions were tricky, with strong currents on the inside and only light, cross onshore winds making life difficult for the juniors.

German becomes U15 champion

The under fifteens armed themselves with 75 litre boards and sails between 4.0-4.7, while they had 12 minutes to show off their two best wave rides. So wave selection was absolutely crucial to success. Jumps were not scored due to lack of wind.

It was a final like we've seen many times before, as Germany's Peter Gobisch took on Javi Escribano. In the end, Gobisch secured victory in the single elimination after putting down an excellent 9-point wave ride.

After the single elimination, the conditions improved and the double elimination was started immediately. As the wind picked up, Bjørn Olesen got into his stride. The young Dane won three heats in a row to finish in the top two and had to compete against Peter Gobisch in the final. Gobisch took the lead early on and never relinquished it. He deservedly leaves this year's competition as U15 Cold Hawaii Champion, while the podium is completed by Olesen and Escribano.

U13 boys: Promising future

Some impressive skills on show here! At the age of 8-12, these boys are the future. 12-year-old Mika Henning beat 10-year-old Anton Gobisch in the final. The conditions in the final were difficult with only a light wind and mostly it was only possible to score on the white water. However, Henning was able to catch a wave further out and combine both front and backside turns to secure the win.

Sol Degrieck mixes up the U20 girls

The 14-year-old Sol Degrieck, who has already caused a furore in the main fleet this year, also showed excellent form this morning. The young Belgian won another youth world title after beating Emma Miron in the U20 girls' final.

In the double elimination, Germany's Trine Gobisch, sister of Peter Gobisch, made an incredible comeback, beating Smilla Petersen, Runa Krabbenhöft and Frida Miron in difficult conditions. Only Emma Miron stopped her in her run, so Gobisch had to settle for a solid third place. Emma Miron finished second behind Sol Degrieck after the 14-year-old Belgian successfully defended her single elimination title.

All categories at the Youth World Cup have now been finalised. The winners will be announced today at the official awards ceremony.
