The third competition day of the Bonaire Youth & Junior Slalom World Cup saw perfect conditions for the fin slalom races with winds of up to 25 knots, while the foil competitions in the afternoon were a real challenge for the participants.
In the U13 category, Noah Coates and Reef De Kanter fought an exciting duel, with both of them claiming a victory. Despite these strong performances, Julien Blom remains at the top of the overall standings thanks to his consistency. The U15 division provided one of the highlights of the day: Victor Schulz Jakobsen came dangerously close to ending Arxon Gomperts' winning streak. But Gomperts proved his class on the final lap and extended his unblemished record to an impressive 13 wins in 13 races.
Bobbi-Lynn De Jong continues to lead the U21 girls, but her sister Kit De Jong is quickly catching up. The first victory for Kit seems to be within reach and promises even more excitement as the event progresses. The three De Jong sisters make up the entire field in both the fin and foil rankings - has this ever happened before?
Foil competitions under extreme conditions
Tycho Smits continues his dominance in the U17 fleet and remains unchallenged at the head of the field. At the same time, Alexandre Levalois and Olivier van Sisseren are engaged in an intense battle for second place, creating additional tension in this age group. In the U21 boys' category, Brendan Lorho remains unbeaten and looks increasingly confident at the top. However, the battle for the other podium places remains completely open.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the foil races, where two more eliminations were held. In the boys' U15 class, many participants described the conditions as a pure survival task. It was all about who could stay on the foil. The overall leader, Ashton Reid, admitted that it was the windiest he had ever been in his career. Kasper Nielsen continues to lead the U21 classification ahead of Brendan Lorho and Thijs Hanemaaijer.
